Times Share: Designers Collaborative at the AD Show

Architectural Digest Home Design Show 2013

We are delighted four of our members will be speaking at this year’s Architectural Digest Home Design Show, Thursday, March 21 through Sunday, March 24, Pier 94, 55th Street at Twelfth Avenue. Bruce Bierman will be appearing in a Jenn-Air-sponsored panel on Thursday, and Laura Bohn, Ronald Bricke, and Glenn Gissler will be participating in the New York Times Seminar Series, which runs Friday through Sunday. All seminars are held in the Jenn-Air Master Class Studio on the show floor. Programs are complimentary, but seating is limited. Here are the details:

Thursday, March 22, 3 pm–4 pm
TASTE & TECHNOLOGY
Featuring Bruce Bierman, Steve Brown, and Jamie Drake, and moderated by John “Doc” Willoughby: The latest kitchen appliances perform a surprising number of tasks with greater efficiency than ever. How do architects and interior designers balance the tastes and needs of their clients with the wealth of available appliance options?

Friday, March 22, 2 pm–3 pm
THE WAY DESIGNERS LIVE NOW
Laura  Bohn, Marshall Watson, and Vincente Wolf join moderator Wendy Moonan from the New York Times  for a conversation about  what designers do for themselves in their own homes from small, chic city apartments to expansive homes in the Hamptons–without the restrictions placed on them by clients’ taste and needs. They’ll discuss their own process, their own passions, and share intimate stories of the trials and tribulations of hiring yourself as your own designer.

Saturday, March 23, 2 pm–3 pm
KITCHENS & BATHS: EXPLORE DESIGN

Featuring designers Ronald Bricke, Charles Pavarini, and Joe Nahem.
Traditional or modern, large or small, explore what is really essential. A new kitchen or bathroom is a major investment. Following a few design rules and guidelines will almost guarantee two of the most important rooms in the home will be both functional and safe. In short, invest in a good design.

Sunday, March 24, 2 pm–3 pm
THE CHANGING DESIGNER-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP
Join Glenn Gissler, Brendan Kwinter-Schwartz, and Lynne Scalo to see how the changing economy, increasing consumer design sophistication, and the advent of online resources are profoundly affecting the working relationships between interior designers and their clients.

Diamond Dogs: Bruce Bierman at the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show, 2013

The 10th Annual Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show 2013

I was delighted to take part once again in the Hope Designer Showcase at the 10th Annual Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show over Presidents’ Day weekend, February 15-19. Now in its second year, the Showcase features room vignettes that highlight product from the antiques show and raises awareness of the Hope for Depression Research Foundation, championed by Audrey Gruss, which funds research into diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of depression and other mental illnesses.

Bruce Bierman‘s vignette “Happiness is . . . Diamonds and Dogs,” part of the Hope Designer Showcase at the Palm Beach Jewelry, Art & Antique Show, 2013

Last year, our vignette’s theme was a luxurious woman’s dressing room, which featured designer shoes and the pleasure they can bring. This year, our theme was “Happiness is . . . Diamonds and Dogs.” It combined diamonds from Marina B and adorable (and very adoptable) dogs from the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.  Furnished with elegant Art Deco furniture, 19th century dog paintings from the William Secord Gallery, and doggy accessories, the vignette put a smile on everyone’s face.
