At one time or another, many of us interior designers have toyed with the idea of using an all-white palette. It’s an alluring, classic concept, but difficult to bring off successfully. Not for Carl D’Aquino, apparently, as he demonstrates in this white-on-white Riverside Drive apartment, which he designed with his architect partner Francine Monaco. Varying textures of plaster, lacquer, and matte surfaces create depth and interest within the almost totally white interiors. Expansive views of Riverside Park and the Hudson River beyond provide all the color needed, while sliding wall panels add a touch of kinetic dynamism to the calm, cool, and oh-so-collected spaces. Pure magic!
